Obituary
Mae Irene Howell, 94 years old, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Premier at Perry Village in New Bloomfield. She was born September 4, 1928 in New Bloomfield to Elmer Earl and Anna (Hockenberry) Fritz. She was a member of the Mt Olivet Church of the Brethren in Newport and loved to cook.
Irene was the widow of Harold Howell and is survived by her sons, James Howell of Newport and Larry Howell of Harrisburg; brother Ronald Fritz; sister Dorothy Reisinger of New Germantown; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by son Clifford Howell, brother Jack Fritz, and sister Betty Latchford
Services will be held Sunday, August 20 at the Mt Olivet Church of the Brethren, 1876 Turkey Bird Road, Newport at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Deardorff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
