Marjory E. Orris, 99 years old, formerly of Ickesburg, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023. She was born March 14, 1924 in Donnally Mills to Guy R. and Eunice (Steeley) Lewis. She was a member of the former Ickesburg United Church of Christ.
Marjory was the widow of Harvey G. "Poose" Orris and was preceded in death by her sons Harry and Wayne (Nancy) Orris, sisters Miriam Knisely, Iva Baer, Martha Leonard and Kathleen Garber.
She is survived by
Daughter-in-law Mary Orris, 6 grandchildren: Michael (Mary), Sheryl (Greg), Jori (Tim), Brenda (John), Pamela, Eddie (Michelle) and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews
She is best remembered for her dill pickles, stout kickball foot (once she kicked off the black granny shoes), a game of horse shoes that could last two hours, cast iron skillet steak and hash browns, butcher shop skills that were second to none and getting hunters out in the woods before daylight year after year. Her devotion to God was as strong as her love for her grandkids, with her back breaking hugs and a big old smack on the lips (you knew you were loved). She can also be remembered for her service to the community tirelessly making frozen custard for the Ickesburg Fireman's Carnival for many years along with helping maintain and working the french fry wagon at many local events.
Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Buffalo/Saville Cemetery.
