Merril L Brofee Obituary

Merril Leroy Brofee, 79, of Millerstown, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home.
 He was born on April 26, 1943 in Millerstown, PA at the Brofee Homestead. He was the eldest son of Delmar and Flo (Bardell) Brofee.
 A 1961 graduate of Greenwood High School, he continued his education at Penn State University where he received a Bachelors of Science (1964) and a Masters of Education (1968). He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
 He worked 25 years in public education as a Vocational Agriculture teacher & FFA chapter advisor at Mansfield High School, Mifflinburg High School, Shippensburg High School, & West Perry High School from which he retired in 2009. He also had many other vocations which included District Sales Manager for the American Breeders Service, Dairy Farmer, Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer, Asset Manager, and Contracting officer for Homestead Savings Association, & a Real Estate Appraiser.
 He was a pillar of the Millerstown Community as he served 20 years as a member of the Board of Education for the Greenwood School District and was President of the Board for 10 of those years. He was a lifetime member of the Pfoutz Valley United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee, Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, and Council Member. He was a member of Gideons International serving as Camp President and Church Speaker. He was also a Board Member & Treasurer of the Center for Spiritual Formation at Orchard Hill.
 In his free time Merril enjoyed reading, studying family genealogy/history, camping, boating, & spending time with his family. He loved being with his 3 grandsons and watching them succeed educationally, perform musically, and play in many sports. He was one of their biggest fans.
 Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Linda (Kipp) Brofee, his daughter, Leanne (Brofee) Morgan, his son-in-law, Matthew Morgan, and his 3 precious grandsons, Mason, Levi, and Max Morgan.
Preceding him in death were his 3 brothers, Robert, James, and Edward Brofee.


 Services will be held Monday, February 20 from the Millerstown United Methodist Church with a visitation from 1 PM until the Celebration of Life Service at 3 PM. Burial will be private.
