Rebecca S. Rhoads 82 of Newport, peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday October 26, 2021, at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born in Harrisburg on December 30, 1938, to the late Charles E. andStella I. (Manning) Sowers.
Becky was a graduate of Newport High School class of 1956, and a graduate of Harrisburg School of Nursing where she received her LPN License.
She was employed by PA Labor and Industry, Harrisburg Hospital, Polyclinic Hospital, Nipples Convalescent Home, Perry Village, and was a Medical Claims Processor at Blue Shield for over 20 years. Becky enjoyed working part time at the I.G.A., Newport Giant and driving school van for Gabel’s Bus Service.
Becky was a member of the former Newport United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a founding member of the Newport Ambulance League where she volunteered for over 40 years. She has saved countless lives and delivered many babies. Becky also volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years. She was a member of the Millerstown Moose, and volunteered for the Perry County Fair and Newport F.F.A.
Becky was an avid state bowler and bowled in many leagues. Her hobbies included playing organ and piano. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing bingo, and casinos. She also enjoyed spending time socializing with friends at Bittings Restaurant.
Becky cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Becky preceded in death by Husband Stanley L. Rhoads Becky is survived by her Four Children, son Stanley L. Rhoads Jr. and wife Dee of Millerstown, daughters Lori A. Little and husband Anthony of Millerstown, Wendy L. Steigleman and husband Daniel of Newport, and Lynette K. Hoak and Husband Larry of Boiling Springs., Sisters Charlene Womer and husband David of Downingtown, and Patsy Ricedorf and husband Sam of Eschol, 10 Grandchildren Ashley Markle, Amber Miller, Andrew Rhoads, Chad Little, Amanda Mabu, Michael Steigleman, Mallory Dorman, Michael Dorman, Michelle Bates, Kendra Hoak. 17 Great Grandchildren, Gage, Levi, Konrad, Delilah, Parker, Otto, Braydon, Brycen, Tyrese, Jayden, Deysean, Lexy, Braydan, Molly, Sutton, Madelyn and one great-grandchild on the way.
A celebration of life/memorial service will be held Saturday December 11, 2021, at the New Harvest
Community Church, 527 Maple Street, Millerstown, PA 17062 at 11:00 am.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Newport Ambulance League, or Newport Fire Company.
