Resta M. Tressler, 86, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was born November 30, 1931 to Norman and Irena (Henry) Gessner. She was a member of Hope Eternal United Methodist Church, The Historical Society of Perry County where she served on the Board of Directors and was the inaugural recipient of their Silas Wright Award and served as a 4-H leader for 54 years.
Resta is survived by her husband, Jerome Tressler; sons, Dennis Tressler (Peg) and Carl Tressler (Corina); daughters, Lynda Martin and Ruth Harper (Jim); brother, Clyde Gessner; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother, David Gessner.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held November 11 at 3 PM at the Newport Family Life Center, 27 West Shortcut Road, Newport with Jean McCleary officiating. There is a visitation from 1 PM until the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions are requested to Resta Tressler Leadership Endowment c/o Perry County 4-H, P.O.
