Rita M (Mello) Campbell

Rita M. Campbell, 90 years old, formerly of Newport, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at Premier at Perry Village. She was born January 3, 1933 in Massachusetts to James F. and Mary (Fitzgerald) Mello. She was a member of the Duncannon VFW and American Legion. She enjoyed dancing, roller skating, riding roller coasters, doing crafts, reading and crossword puzzles.

  Rita was the widow of Richard E. Benner and Robert L. Campbell and is survived by daughters, Nancy Roush and Barbara Wright of Duncannon and Susan Hockenberry of Newport; brother William Mello of Ohio; sisters Linda Pontes of MA and Nancy Huss of Duncannon; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by son Richard A Benner; daughter Sandra Graham; brothers James, Gerald and Robert Mello and sister Marlene Mello.

  Services will be held from the David Myers Funeral Home with a viewing on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and Thursday from 12 PM until the funeral at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Newport Ambulance League.
