Robert L Thomas

Robert L. Thomas "Tommy"- 62 years old of Newport, passed away Monday July 25, 2016. He was a working foreman in the shipping department at Bimbo Bakeries before retiring after 35+ years. During his employment, he was a member of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers Union (BCTGM) and served as the Union Steward representing plant employees for many years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #177 and was a baseball and softball coach for over 35 years. He was the owner of race horses and enjoyed bowling  and the horse races.
  Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy (Little) Thomas and his mother, Betty Wagner and is survived by his children, Todd "Boobie" Thomas of Newport, Toni (Misser) Thomas of Landisburg, Tiffany Groce of New Bloomfield and Rebecca Little of Harrisburg; sister, Sue Young of Middletown; step father, Richard Wagner of Middletown and grandchildren, George (Scooter) Wagner, Emily Wagner, Denni Earley and Dennika Earley and 1 great grandchild.
  Services will be held Tuesday from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 12 PM. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.
