Roberta Linn Miller , of New Bloomfield, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023. She was born June 5th., 1935 to the late Robert and AnnaDaugherty Linn in Tyrone Township on a farm near Landisburg in Perry County. She attended one room schools in Landisburg and Green Park and graduated in 1952 from Green Park Union High School after serving as class officer and editor of the yearbook. In 1955 she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
She taught Home Economics at Newport High School, Newport, Pennsylvania and while there received a State Homemaker Degree from the State FHA of Pennsylvania in 1960. She also taught at Bellefonte Senior High School and during that time supervised student teachers for Pennsylvania State University. Her teaching years also included Union Local High School, Morristown, Ohio and James Island High School, Charleston, South Carolina. She introduced Tole and Decorative Painting classes to South Jersey and taught it for 11 years for Gloucester County College and Washington Township Adult Schools, Sewell, New Jersey, During that time she and her husband owned and operated The Country Miller Gift Shop in Pitman, New Jersey. While living in Pitman she was a member of the Pitman Grove Historic Committee and was a judge for two years for the annual 4th. of July Parade and was named Cook of the Week by a local newspaper. After moving
to Pennsylvania and restoring an 1859 stone farmhouse, they opened The Reapsome House Bed and Breakfast in Elliottsburg for an equal amount of time. She was a food judge for the Perry County Fair for a number of years and wrote and had published a cookbook of her collected recipes. She also wrote a column for the Perry County papers titled Perry Memories under the
name The Country Miller. She was a former member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Elliottsburg, Perry Purple Plumes Red Hats and a present member ofthe National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Orwan Miller on November 3, 2018 and by her half sisters, Joye Moore Raines. Spotsylvania, Virginia and Verginia Moore Catherman of Lewisburg, Pa,
She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Linn Senior and husband Kenneth of New Bloomfield and her son, Thomas Orwan Miller, Jr. and wife Shana of Alba, Texas. Two
grandsons, Alan Senior and wife Alicia of Carlisle and Lathon Miller of Texas and granddaughters Alexandra Senior and Ashley Senior. Great grandchildren Cordelia Senior of Carlisle and Wyatt Miller of Iowa; and niece, Travallyn Foldi of Spotsylvania, Virginia and a nephew, Edgar Raines of Oklahoma as well as many other nieces and nephews
Services will be held Saturday June 24 from the David Myers Funeral Home with a visitation from 10 AM until the Memorial Service at 11 AM with Pastor Mary Kay Miller officiating.
