Ruth Britcher, 93 years old, of Newport, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the home of her daughter. She was born April 28, 1928 in Juniata County to H. Blair and Martha Jane (Slaughterback) Hower
She was director of the Perry County Fair from 2004-2022- and was instrumental along with her husband, Paul Britcher Sr. in the starting of the fair. She was PSACF Fair Person of the year in 2016 and Zone 4 fair person in 2000. She was a volunteer at the Pa. Farm Show for 30 years, the After School Program at Newport School, and the Perry County Food Bank. She was a faithful christian and attended the Red Hill Church of God for many years and recently attended Dellville UMC. She was a member of the Community Grange #1767 in Newport for 70 years. She had a love for pony racing and loved listening to the races especially when her grandson was racing.
Ruth was the widow of Paul E Britcher Sr and is survived by her children Paul E. Britcher Jr and wife Deb of Newport and Martha G. Ebersole and husband Ray of Duncannon; grandchildren, Stacy Bruker of Marysville, Brian Ebersole of Scranton, Adam Britcher and Miguel Gonzales of Newport, Derek Lee of Indiana, and Todd Lee of Thompsontown ; great grandchildren Keegan Ebersole of Scranton and Carter Lee of Thompsontown. She was also preceded in death by her children, Lee M Britcher, Larry A. Britcher and Isabelle N. Lee and brother Norman Hower.
Graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Newport Cemetery with Pastors Mary Kay Miller and David Keyworth officiating
