Selvia “Jean” J. Booher, formerly of Newport, PA, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown, PA. She was 86. Mrs. Booher was born September 27, 1936, in McAlisterville, PA to the late Earl Henry and Anna (Coldren) Swartz.  Mrs. Booher was a housewife, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, attending church at Newport Assembly of God, and she loved gospel and country music Jean was preceded in death by a son: Barry Booher; a daughter: Barbara Burgett; a brother: Paul Swartz; and two sisters: Connie Hicks and Anna “Mae” Crum.                     

She is survived by a son: Steven Booher and his wife Barbara of Mechanicsburg; a daughter: Shirley Long and her husband Darrell of Liverpool; 2 brothers: Earl Swartz, Jr. And his wife Margie of Steelton, Donald Swartz of Burnham; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.                                                                                                                                                                               

Services will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the David M. Myers Funeral Home, 125 Walnut Street, Newport, at 2:00pm, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Newport Cemetery, Newport. The Rev. Gary Bellis will be officiating.
