Shirley J (Regester) Turnbaugh Obituary

Shirley Jane (Regester) Turnbaugh, 82 years old, formerly of Newport, PA, went 
 to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2025, at her daughter’s home in
Mechanicsburg, PA. She was born on March 17, 1943, to the late Robert Richard
Regester and Jennie Mae (Garmen) Regester in Thompsontown, PA.
Shirley was a member of the Mannsville Lutheran Church, Millerstown Moose, Newport
American Legion, and Newport Fire Company Auxiliary. She had worked and retired
from Perry Village Nursing Home in New Bloomfield. She cherished her animals deeply
– Peter the iguana, her many cats, dogs, and her beloved raccoon, affectionately called
“Kitty, Kitty, Coonie”. Her greatest joy was always spending time with her family and
making memories.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Lisa (David) Wyant of Newport, and Lori (John)
Pitulski of Mechanicsburg. She has five Grandchildren Crystal (Tyler) Spicer, Elizabeth
(Jonathan) Engel, and Matthew (Alyssa) Wyant, Dylan Pitulski, and Sarah Pitulski. She
has five great grandchildren, Aurora, Nova, and Vera Spicer, and Carter and Ellison
Wyant. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Lois Turnbaugh, and niece, Dawn (Jeffrey)
Hoover, and niece Denice (Ronnie) Stydinger. She was surrounded by countless friends
and family members who meant so much to her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Turnbaugh, and their
infant daughter, Debra Kay Turnbaugh, her brother Ray Stydinger, and her companion,
Robert W. Sharar, Sr.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the David M. Myers Funeral Home in
Newport, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31,
2025, with a Viewing from 12 pm to 1 pm and Services to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, Newport. Interment will follow at the Newport Cemetery.
All are invited back to the Newport Fire House following the services for a meal and a
time of remembrance in honor of Shirley.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Residential Hospice for the compassionate care,
love, and support over the past ten months.
