Stephania A (Stephens) Crouse Obituary
Stephania A. Crouse, 71, of Newport, passed away peacefully and opened her eyes to gaze upon her Lord on December 16, 2022 at Hershey Medical Center with her loving family by her side after a brave and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Stephania was born February 24, 1951 in Harrisburg Hospital to the late Wayne and Annabelle (Long) Stephens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew Todd Stephens and stepdaughter Shelli Jameson. Stephania is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Terrence; son Matthew and wife Natalie of New Freedom; son Timothy and wife Danielle of North Lima, OH; stepdaughter Lori Delbo and husband Joe of Harrisburg; brother Gordon Stephens and wife Kate of Newport; sister Nancy Cahoon and husband Greg of Shelton, CT; niece Megan Hopkins and husband Matt; nephew Chad Cahoon; grandchildren Dylan, Ellie, and Kinley; step-grandchildren Ryan Jameson and Brandon, Andrew, and Abigail Ross; 3 great step-grandchildren; and many more loving extended family members. Stephania was a 1969 graduate of Newport High School and received her Bachelor of Education degree from Shippensburg University (then Shippensburg State College) in 1973. She dedicated her life to the education and service of others and began her career as a first-grade teacher at Greenwood Elementary School, returning to Shippensburg to receive her Masters of Elementary Education in 1976. Stephania’s greatest joy in her life was her sons and she retired from teaching with the birth of her children to devote her time and love to raising them. The call to teaching was strong and once the boys were old enough to go to school, so did Stephania, returning to teaching at Newport Elementary School, retiring for good in 2011. Stephania had an unwavering faith in Jesus, and even through the darkest times of her disease, she would always say she was at peace because everything was part of God’s plan and knowing where her final home would be. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and loved serving and spending time with her church family. She was active as the coordinator and organizer of the Spring Fling and Fall Fest and Craft Bazaar for many years including craft shows, bake sales, chicken BBQ, and other events. Stephania enjoyed spending time with her many friends from her years in education, traveling the country with her husband in their RV, watching and attending Penn State Football games, many family vacations to the beach, and with the recent joyous arrivals of her grandchildren, getting to be Grammy and spending time playing and reading with them. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday December 30 at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Liverpool, PA at 12 PM with a visitation from 11 AM until the service and a fellowship luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be at the Good Shepherd Columbarium in a private family ceremony.
Stephania was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, Grammy, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stephania’s honor to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1000 North Front St, PO Box G, Liverpool, PA, 17045.
