MILLERSTOWN - It is with great sadness that the family of Thelma A. Patton, 95, announces her death on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 while a resident at Stonebridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Thelma was born in Millerstown, PA on Wednesday, June 1, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Amos D. and Jean I. Miller. She was the second of 4 children and the last surviving child until her death.
She graduated from the Millerstown High School in 1945 and was a star basketball player all 4 years of high school. She went on to the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse in 1948.
She worked as a registered nurse her entire working career. She started as an operating room nurse at the Osteopathic Hospital in 1948. Later she worked for Dr. Roswell J. Johns for 25 years and finally the Greenwood Medical Center.
She was a Presbyterian by faith and an active member of the Highland United Presbyterian Church.
Thelma was the widow of Elmer E. Patton who died November 10, 1982.
She also had 2 sisters, Mildred Mae Miller and Flora Irene Graybill who predeceased her as well as a brother, Amos J. Miller who also predeceased her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family and her many friends. Her children include, David R. Patton and Jan E. Patton (Loujean). Her family also includes 2 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Our dear mother got her most enjoyment being with her family, her church and her many friends and neighbors.
The funeral services will be held at the Highland United Presbyterian Church, Newport, PA on Monday, April 24, 2023 with a visitation from 10:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will follow in the Millerstown Riverview Cemetery.
