Thelma G.Taylor, 98 years old, of Enola, has filled the Halls of Heaven with joy and laughter today- the last Liese child has come home. Thelma Liese Taylor rejoined her beloved family on the morning of December 10, 2016.
She was born to Siegfried Karl and Margaret Dunkle Liese on March 2, 1918 in Marysville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Enola High School. In 1945 she married John Clark Taylor who preceded her in death in 1992. She was a loving mother to her only daughter, Sharon Taylor Mattern and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, L. Jeffrey Mattern, two granddaughters, Tara and Megan, and three great grandchildren.
During WW II Thelma worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired in 1978 from the Pennsylvania Teachers Retirement Board. She was a life long member of the Enola First Church of God, a church her father helped to establish. She served her church in many capacities- choir member, youth choir director, Sunday School teacher, deaconess and Board Secretary to name just a few. She could always be found in the kitchen helping to provide goodies at any church event.
Mother lived a quiet, unassuming life. She loved God, her family and her friends. She did not yearn for riches or fame, just to serve others here below. She was honest, faithful and loving all her life and we know that she is now reaping her rewards in Heaven.
Service for Thelma will be held Saturday, December 17 from the Enola First Church of God with a viewing from 12 PM until the funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will be private in the Rolling Green Cemetery.
