Thomas S Roschel Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Samuel Roschel on
February 3, 2025, at the age of 80. Tom was born on September 14, 1944 to Daniel
and Julia (Stouch) Roschel.
Tom has been a resident of the Millerstown area for the majority of his life, having raised
his family there and built many lasting friendships with the wonderful people living in the
community. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved nothing more than hunting or
fishing with his pals, riding ATVs on trails in the woods, or leading groups of hunters to
claim that trophy deer at his beloved camp in Iowa. Tom was also a lifetime member of
the Ickesburg Sportsman’s Club which supports many community focused activities for
youths and seniors as well as trout stocking programs in waterways local to the area.
He was also a skilled craftsman and could often be found in his workshop fixing items or
building something he designed himself.
Tom spent his early life after high school in the Marine Corps where he was stationed in
the Phillipines as well as serving two tours of active duty in Vietnam. He received many
accolades prior to his honorable discharge. Later, Tom became a skilled construction
contractor having worked his way from an apprentice to general superintendent of jobs
in several large commercial construction firms in the central PA area. He was
especially proud of having managed the build of Leffler Chapel and Performing Arts
Center at Elizabethtown College.
Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife Diane Roschel; his children, Steve
Roschel and wife Maggie, Cass Lowenstein and husband Marc, Dena Clare, and Letitia
Weber and partner Bill; grandchildren Thomas Roschel, Seth Roschel, Nate Roschel,
Ben Lowenstein, Beatrice Lowenstein, Madison Clare, Michael Witmer, Anthony Witmer,
Ashley Adams and husband Brian and William L. Weber; and 9 great grandchildren,
brother, Charlie Roschel; and sisters, Doris Cauffman, Sue Roschel, and Pat Coomes.
