HTC/E-7 U.S.. Navy Retired- Thomas Elwood Witmyer, 87, of Newport, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully  in his sleep on June 17, 2024, with his wife by his side.

Thomas was born in Newport in 1937 to Lester W. Witmyer and Arlene F. Strickland Witmyer. Thomas attended Newport High School and prior to graduating he joined the Harrisburg Pennsylvania National Guard. Upon graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for 22 years.

 Thomas was predeceased by his parents, brother Timothy E. Witmyer and mother-in-law Pauline Sarver Myers Kline.  He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Tana Myers Witmyer; his children Thomas S. Witmyer and wife Wendy, Robin Witmyer Strout and husband Ken, Lori Ann Witmyer Lenig and husband Gregg and Tani Witmyer Smith and husband George; he was a proud Pappy of eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters Susie Erhart and Cherry Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tom had the love of his family, his yorkie Peanie, reading, fishing and watching westerns on tv.
