William R Sheaffer

 William R. Sheaffer, 78, of Millerstown, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in the Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1945 to the late Robert Lee and Tillie Mae (Strawser) Sheaffer from Ickesburg. William attended  West Perry and later Greenwood High School, graduating in 1963. After high school he attended Thompson Business Institution before going to work for AMP Incorporated/Tyco Electronics for 35 years. William was also enlisted in the Army Reserves from 1966-1972.

  Bill met his wife Nancy Irene Barns in Ickesburg. They were married for 51 years until her passing. Surviving are their son, Scott Sheaffer and wife Michelle of Shermans Dale; daughter Stacy Snavely and husband Mark of Lebanon; brother Robert Sheaffer of Millerstown and grandchildren Julia and Anna Sheaffer and Emma, Hayden and Harper Snavely. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Dave Sheaffer, Donald Sheaffer and sister Betty Lou Gutshall.

  Bill was an active member of Faith United Church of Ickesburg. He enjoyed the companionship and worship with members of the church congregation. Bill was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoying any time spent in the forest. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with friends, fellowship over meals with friends and family, going to the races, and sitting on his back porch taking in the beauty of the rural scenery that surrounded him. His favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and loved being their "Pappy".

 Services will be held Wednesday, November 15 from the Faith United Church, Ickesburg with a viewing from 9 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.
