Carolyn Eppley Clouser, 87, of Voorheesville, NY (formerly of Newport, PA) died on December 14, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.
Carolyn was born October 20, 1927 in Marysville, PA to Harold and Marcella Eppley. She was a graduate of Marysville High School and the Central Penn Business School. She worked as a legal secretary before becoming a full time wife and mother. Carolyn enjoyed playing piano and organ and singing in community and church choirs. Carolyn was previously a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newport, PA where she served as organist, was currently a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont, NY. She also enjoyed writing poetry for which she won various awards. A collection of her poems, entitled "Cry a Symphony" was published in 1977. Most recently her poems were published in The Best Poems and Poets of 2005 and Surrender the Moon, both published by the International Library of Poetry.
Carolyn was married to the late William H. Clouser in 1949. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel M. Eppley and by an infant daughter. She is survived by three daughters, Marcella (Steele) of Spotsylvania, VA, Melinda (Kessler) of New Windsor, NY and Megan (Kurlychek) of Voorheesville, NY. "Mimi" is also survived by nine grandchildren, Carolyn Steele, Lydia Steele, Jon Steele, Matthew Sharp, Andrea Sharp, Kevin Sharp, Lauren Sharp, Anthony Kurlychek and Kathryn Kurlychek, and two great grandsons, William Kurlychek and Jordan Kurlychek.
Services will be held at the David M. Myers Funeral Home in Newport, PA. The viewing will be Thursday, December 18 from 5 to 7 pm. The funeral will be Friday, December 19 at 11 am with Pastor Brent Book officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.
