Jennie A. Piskel, 93, of Elliottsburg passed away recently at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Albert Knouse.
She was born to Louis “Guy” and Antonette (Gelsimino) Fiorillo in Kelayres, PA, living most of her
married life in Hazleton, PA.
An industrious clerk typist, she was always a valued employee and worked diligently at multiple jobs
throughout her career, with her longest employ in the PA State health system. After retirement in Hazleton, PA, she and husband Leonard moved to Palmyra, PA. Leonard was the love of her life and, after 65 years of marriage, preceded her in death seven years earlier. Their eternal devotion to each other was an inspiration to family and friends. And this love, augmented by the aroma of tomato sauce emanating from the kitchen and joyful storytelling and laughter bouncing off the walls, always provided a warm respite for their friends, children and grandchildren. Her selfless, unconditional love for her family and husband, rooted in her faith, will endure in the hearts of those who loved her.
Jennie is survived by her four daughters, Lenore A. Piskel (Brad L. Kahn) of Pasadena, CA; Diane B. Sheehan (Robert K. Sheehan) of Newport, RI; Annette M. Piskel (Bruce D. Miller) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Kathleen J. Knouse (Albert B. Knouse, Jr) of Elliottsburg, PA; and five grandchildren, Devin M. Sheehan (Julia M. Sheehan) of Newport, RI; Siera A. Sheehan of Greenville, SC; Matthew R. Knouse of Philadelphia, PA; Jenna L. Knouse (Andrew J. Biter) of Raeford, NC; and Luke A. Knouse of Philadelphia, PA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Fiorilla and Nunzio Fiorillo.
As the wife of a military veteran, the burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Sharman officiating. A memorial service will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at a later date (to be announced).
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 811
