Robert L. Swenson, 83 years old, of New Bloomfield, passed away March 16, 2015. He was born February 21, 1932 in Harrisburg, the son of Alolph A. and Emma Hirtley Swenson. He attended William Penn High School and was a member of the football team.
 He was an Army Veteran and served a tour of duty in Korea. He worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad as a diesel machinist before the war. He later worked, and retired from Roadway Express, Inc, in the parts department. He was a life member and past commander of the V.F.W. Post 7463 in New Bloomfield. He grew up a member of the Harris Street United Methodist Church in Harrisburg and later became a member of Christ Lutheran Church, New Bloomfield.
 Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia Weldon Swenson whom he married January 19, 1952, his three children, Laura Womer and husband, Douglas of Lower Paxton, James E. Swenson and wife Susan of New Bloomfield and daughter, Elizabeth Swenson of New Bloomfield, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
 He was the youngest of seven children- survived by his sister, May Stover of Harrisburg and preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Paul, Ralph, Raymond and Earl.
  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 28  at Christ Lutheran Church, West High Street, New Bloomfield, with a visitation from 1 PM until the Memorial Service at 2 PM.  Burial with Military Honors by the Perry County Military Honor Guard will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Christ Lutheran Church, PO Box 448, New Bloomfield, Pa. 17068 or Harris Street UMC, 1705 Susquehanna Street, Harrisburg, Pa. 17101.
