Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Horoschak

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Horoschak, 90, of Ecumenical Retirement Community in Susquehanna Township went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2020. Betty was born in Shamokin on July 23, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Walter F. Horoschak, her parents, Peter Dunchock and Nellie C. Glassic, her stepfather Albert M. Glassic, and three brothers- Edward, Leonard, and Daniel Dunchock.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Diane R. Myers (John) of Camp Hill; three sons- Walter E. Horoschak (Vicki) of Norco, CA, John D. Horoschak (Patricia) of Liverpool, and A. Michael Horoschak (Nanette) of Swatara Township; five grandchildren- Kimberly Myers, Melissa Rhoads, Amanda Houseal, Amy Hoover, and Rachael Horoschak; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Betty owned and operated a dog grooming business for ten years out of her home in Penbrook. She was also employed by Spiegel, Inc. as a credit clerk for five years. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing and round dancing, as well as volunteering at St. Catherine Laboure Church and School, where she was a 30-year member of the parish and a teacher’s aide in the preschool program and school cafeteria volunteer. She became known as Mrs. Betty to the children who attended Little Church School on Sundays. Betty also volunteered for Morning Star Pregnancy Services, Capital Area Pregnancy Services, United Way of the Capital Region, and St. Francis Soup Kitchen, and was a member of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Association.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated saturday , December 19 at 12 Noon in St. Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg with Reverend Joshua R. Weaver officiating. Private burial will be done in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
